Stupefy Your Boring Bedroom

“Wingardium Leviosa!” Maybe you’re neither Team Edward nor Team Jacob, but perhaps you’re Team Potter instead! In celebration of the last wonderful wizarding movie from author J.K. Rowling, (regardless of whether you’re a muggle, mudblood, or full wizard) we have a few tips to share with you on how to create a room like those found only at Hogwarts with the wave of a wand!

Everyone knows the Hogwarts rooms are filled with intricate wood furniture, elegant paintings, and gold accents, but before you can start with this, you have to decide which house you’re in– Gryffindor, Slytherin, Hufflepuff, or Ravenclaw. (If you don’t know, be sure to pause for a moment and take this sorting hat house quiz to find out first!)

Whichever way you are sorted, however, the basics are the same –first, you need a good set of dark wood furniture… Check out this dresser, bed, and nightstand to fit with the Harry Potter theme. Then, fill the room with old books to give it the same sophisticated feel as Hogwarts. If you have similar styled paintings, throw those in too!

For color schemes, Gryffindor types should focus in on maroon and gold, while Slytherin fans should focus on emerald and silver. Ravenclaw tends to use deep blues and bronzes, and Hufflepuff boldly touts yellow and black. Depending on your personality, and the house you want to focus on, pick your color scheme and accessorize away! Add a draped curtain in the color of your house to the room for a sophisticated look, and a mini chandelier like this one will be sure to catch the essence of Hogwarts, and the eye of all your houseguests!

We hope you try out and enjoy the classy Hogwarts theme we’ve put together here, and if you decide to try it, show us your Harry Potter themed room on our Facebook page!
